When I started learning about astrology and doing natal horoscopes at the age of 15 it seemed like no one knew anything about their own astrology except for their sun sign. I believe that the internet has enabled systems like astrology to become ubiquitous and part of our lives. Now anyone can generate their natal horoscope online and watch YouTube astrologers to learn how to interpret it.
One question I am asked a lot over the last few years by new-comers to astrology is what is the difference between the sun sign, rising sign and the moon sign. Even those who study astrology compare notes and engage in discussions about the fundamental “big three” which enables a more robust definition of the astrology of the sun sign, rising sign, and the moon sign.
After watching some videos recently about the “big three” I found some really great YouTube videos on this subject but the best one I found was an Astrology Podcast by Chris Brennan. About a year ago from the writing of this blog post, Chris Brennan had Chani Nicholas on his show and they did a really great job explaining the meaning of the sun sign, rising sign, and moon sign in the natal horoscope.
Creating videos for YouTube is really challenging and in my opinion after practicing for about a year now, I watch other videos to see what is already out there and sometimes I realize that it is more efficient to just provide a link for my website audience to already existing resources instead of re-inventing the wheel and posting another YouTube video.
So, my plan is to honor the work of YouTube astrologers by acknowledging their work and providing an opinion for my clients and followers. In other words, if I am providing a link to another astrologer this means that I think they are worth listening to and that I can not do better than what they have done.
This all said, I think this Astrology Podcast video will answer most questions about the sun sign, rising sign, and the moon sign and I think the format of this podcast is easy to listen to and provides great some examples. By the end of the video you should be able to look at your natal horoscope and understand the big three in your own astrology.
